Laura Petts

Head Nurse 

Originally from Essex but moved to Northumberland in 1997. She started work at Robson & Prescott as a trainee veterinary nurse in 1998 and has worked up through the ranks to become our Head Nurse. She has a keen interest in exotic species and has taken great pleasure in providing care to a wide variety of species, including her favourites, lemurs. Laura also has an interest in dentistry and has been involved with the teaching of our student veterinary nurses for many years. Laura has also gone on to complete the BVNA certificate in dentistry and more recently has successfully completed a Certificate in the Veterinary Nursing of Exotic Species. Laura enjoys spending time walking her dogs, exploring Northumberland and reading.

Bev Norris

Beverley began nursing at Robson & Prescott in 1995 after starting as a volunteer. She qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2001. She has a special interest in animal behaviour and wildlife. She lives with her fiance, two children and small menagerie of animals.

Melanie Scott

Melanie first started working with Robson & Prescott on the youth training scheme in 1988!! She qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 1994 and apart from working briefly for the Blue Cross animal hospital, PDSA Newcastle and a 3 year position in the wonderful Scottish borders she has always returned to her roots. After having a family she now works part time. Her interests lie within Veterinary Nursing which is truly a vocation, in particular with preventative health care, general nursing and nurse training. When she has a little time to herself she also enjoys netball, zumba and walking with her family.

Lisa started working for Robson and Prescott in 1997 and qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2002. She has a special interest in care of exotic species and veterinary nurse training.

Kate Acaster

Veterinary Nurse

Kate has worked at Robson & Prescott since 2003, qualifying as a veterinary nurse in 2007. Kate's main interest is the equine side of the practice and she works closely alongside equine vet Sally Booth on a daily basis. Kate has two horses named Pilgrim and Dirk, a dog named Hal and Tiger her cat. When she is not working she likes to spend her time riding, competing and socialising with friends.

Laura started a placement as a trainee veterinary nurse for Robson and Prescott in October 2012 after deciding that driving a forklift in a garden centre wasn't for her. Recently qualified, she enjoys caring for the extremely varied patients we admit to our hospital and winding up her colleagues! Her border collies Dottie and Blue take up most of her spare time, and the rest is spent devouring books and chocolate in almost equal measures!

Kelly started working at Robson & Prescott in March 2011 as a Nursing Assistant with no prior experience. She is now a Registered Veterinary Nurse having qualified in January 2015. She has a passion for animals, keen to learn and develop her skills in all areas and build her knowledge and experience within veterinary nursing for a bright rewarding future at Robson & Prescott.

Aimee Kirkup

Veterinary Nurse

Aimee has been part of Robson & Prescott for over 13 years and has been a fully qualified RVN for 7 years. She started as a Nursing Assistant after completing a diploma in small animal management at Kirkley Hall. She has a keen interest in radiography and laboratory procedures. Aimee is responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment and managing waste. She has always loved to care for animals and wanted to become a veterinary nurse from the age of 7.

Rebecca Potts RVN

Veterinary Nurse

Rebecca gained her nursing qualification in 2009 and joined Robson & Prescott in April 2015. Her special interests are nurse clinics, particularly weight management; she also enjoys emergency & critical care. At home she is mother to a one year old little girl. She has two Shih-tzu dogs which are mother and daughter, a cob horse who is an older lady now at 18, two guinea pigs & tropical fish to keep her busy. She enjoys swimming and does aquafit!

Amy came to Robson & Prescott on a placement as part of VCA course at Kirkley Hall College in 2013. With previous experience working in horse racing, Amy was keen to make the change to small animal care.  In her spare time she enjoys shopping, socialising and walking her chocolate Labrador Ollie.

Abby joined Robson & Prescott in December 2015 as a student nurse. She's hoping to be qualified in May 2017 and wear her badge with pride. When she is not bunged down with University work she is out adventruing with her Border Collie Mylo.

Grace Spedding

Grace has been at the practice since 2007 and has been a qualified nurse since 2010. She has a dog called Rupert and a horse called Sheriff and enjoys riding and competing in her spare time. She is interested in wound management and surgical nursing on the small animal side and in equine nursing and parasite control.

Cheryl came to Robson & Prescott on a placement as part of VCA course at Kirkley Hall College in 2012. She was then offered a job after her first year which she happily accepted as she has a love for animals. She has a 10 year old Staffie at home.

Sarah Lowe

Having previously worked for RSPB as a warden on Coquet Island, Sarah returned to Northumberland to pursue her life-long love of working with animals. She starting working for Robson & Prescott in late 2012. Sarah lives with her rescue Staffy cross Ennis

Laura started working at Robson and Prescott in 2014 as an auxiliary nurse and has recently qualified. She thrives on the diverse nature of the role and has a keen interest in surgery and all aspects of feline care. She is now currently studying the ISFM diploma in feline nursing to expand her knowledge on the species she is very passionate about. Laura has seven rescue cats at home which keep her on her toes (a true crazy cat lady).

Stefanie has been veterinary nursing since 2003 and joined Robson and Prescott in November 2015. Stefanie has a keen interest in rabbits and is kept busy outside of work with her assortment of pets ranging from horses to tortoises. She enjoys travelling around the North East eventing with her husband.

Nicola joined Robson & Prescott in 2013 on a placement as part of a VCA course at Kirkley Hall College and was offered a job as an auxiliary nurse shortly after. She is now training to be a veterinary nurse and is keen to learn and develop her skills in all areas.

Emma started working for the practice in April 2014 as an Auxiliary Nursing Assistant. She has a particular interest in all aspects of canine nursing, however, enjoys interacting with all types of animals. She started her veterinary nurse training in September 2015 and is really enjoying the course so far.

Lisa joined the nursing team in June 2016 as an auxiliary veterinary nurse after completing her batchelor degree in Zoology at Liverpool University. As of August 2017, Lisa joined the trainee nursing team, starting college in September and is looking forward to being more hand-on in her job role! Once Lisa is qualified, she would like to pursue her interest in animal behaviour as well as nursing. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, walking her Golden Retriever Bailey and has recently taken up running.

Rachel has been working as an auxiliary nurse at robson and prescott since November 2014, progressing onto a trainee veterinary nurse in 2016, she loves working with animals and being outdoors. At home she has an array of different animals the biggest being her horse Donni, who she has looked after and enjoyed riding since the age of 12.

Abigail came to Robson and Prescott in Feburary 2015 after completing a HND in animal managment. She has a keen interest in equine nursing and spends her spare time competing her two horses Tess and Blue.

Danielle joined the practice in July 2015 turning her dream of working with animals into reality. She enjoys all aspects of her job as every day is different and there is always something new to experience. In her spare time she likes socialising with friends and spending time with her dogs.

Michael has always been involved in livestock, agriculture and conservation in one form or another. After completing a university degree from Falmouth in Marine and Natural History Photography, Michael travelled the UK filming and photographing wild animals, targeting behaviours and characteristics, trying to portray how traditional management methods corresponded with both modern public perceptions and conservation. From working as a Farm Hand, Conservation Officer and Agricultural Adviser he realised his real passion was working with animals. Michael has a particular interest in sheep and large animal procedures but is very keen to learn and develop his skills; with an ultimate ambition of training as a RVN.

Andrea is a senior Animal Nursing Assistant and has been working for Robson and Prescott since 2007. She really enjoys her job because the work is so varied and you never have two days alike. She has four dogs of her own, an African grey parrot and a ferret.

Amy has worked for Robson and Prescott since March 2013. She started on placement as a VCA before becoming an Auxiliary nurse. Coming from a farming background, Amy's main interest is the Farm and Equine side of the practise. When she is not working in her spare time, she likes going on walks with her dog Pip and socialising with friends.
